NYCTIBATRACHIDAE - South Indian Herpetofauna

Nyctibatrachus BOULENGER, 1882

This genus of frogs is commonly known as ‘Wrinkled frog’, because of the wrinkled appearance of the skin. Ten species are found in this genus, all of which are endemic to Western Ghats. These frogs are aquatic in nature and are found in hill streams and dense shady riparian vegetation almost always in water and never far from it.
